MET Gala 2015

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Each year’s event celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night since guests are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit. Each year the event also has honorary celebrity event day chairpersons.

The Most talked about TRIO on the Red Carpet.  So much that we missed Fashion.

That’s the background on the event.  The 2015 theme, “China: Through the Looking Glass” offering more of the “Through the Looking Glass” portion of the the,e then China…with the most highly popular celebrities that is.  So you have Beyoncé, Kim K, and Beyoncé who were all hoping to win the “see through gown” of the night award. As I love a theme and sticking to it, I also love CLASS in all forms.  The dresses of Beyoncé and J. Lo were a bit more left than right, so I cannot place those looks with the theme.  The simply wore a dress.  You already know that the trio have received world spread publicity because if this and that’s probably more off what they wanted than anything.  Besides, Beyoncé (and I am a fan) is still trying to re-coop from the rumors of her marriage flopping; Kim K, even after marrying Kanye, it’s still trying to ‘Break The Interneet’ which she felled at last time to the hands of Solange (Bey’s sister); and J-Lo wants us to believe that she is still in her 20s.  After all of those failed relationships, that’s impossible to think. So anyways, on to what actually fit the part.  I like these looks and they were YESSSSSes for me.

After viewing the elegant styles, worn by less popularity fashionistas, it is easier to recognize the Chinaesque in the event.  I am a fan of fashion not skin.  That is my opinion and I am sticking to it.
This dress wins as my favorite.  I remember watching movies that are based in China and there was always a little girl dressed in either a black or red dress with a hood.  Funny thing, at a recent fashion show at the Tobin Center for UIW Fashion Design Majors, I saw a similar dress and immediately fell in LOVE.  Guess a girl knows what she likes.  Kudos to Anne Hathaway for this knockout choice.
